Energy costs are expected to increase again in October 2024 with gas prices rising by 10% and electricity by 10%! Besides hoping for a mild Winter we've put together some further tips on reducing your energy costs this Winter:

Shower Time and Energy Efficient Shower Heads

We've shared this one with you before but it's well worth a reminder, keep your shower time to below 4 minutes and you could save yourself around £95 a year! As well as timing your showers it's also worth investing in an energy efficient shower head to save up to £40 a year.

Draft Proof Your Windows And Doors

If you're living in an older property heat can easily escape through drafts around windows, doors, gaps around flooring and through your chimney. Draft proofing these areas can reduce heating costs by £125 a year.

Simple draft proofing options we've previously mentioned in our blog 'Contract Holders Energy Saving Tips' but your letterbox, keyholes and investing in chimney balloons are other suggestions we've come across!

Ask Alexa

The UK government have collaborated with Amazon's Alexa to assist households in saving energy costs. All you need to do is ask "Alexa, give me energy saving tips" and you will receive the latest advise from the government on using less energy and preparing the home for Winter, potential savings have been forecast at £100 a year for a typical household!

These are some small changes that can be implemented easily in your homes this Winter to help reduce the costs. We're also still hoping for a milder Winter to help too!
